SOLO Specialty Courses
Over the years, SOLO has offered many courses that focused on a specific area of wilderness medicine, rescue, or leadership. Currently, the following four specialty courses are being offered. International Courses
WFA, WFR, & Module versions (hours vary)
SOLO International courses focus on the unique medical issues inherent in international travel, disaster relief efforts, or missions trips - especially travel to areas where environmental and disease risks are high. Each International program builds on a standard SOLO curriculum: Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, and Wilderness Module (hours for each program vary).
WHO ARE SOLO'S INTERNATIONAL COURSES FOR?
Those traveling to remote overseas environments - especially tropical or disaster sites.
WHAT IS TAUGHT?
Standard WFA, WFR, or WEMT information plus information specific to international travel, primarily in remote tropical environments.
WHERE AND WHEN ARE THEY HELD?
SOLO International course are held throughout the world year-round.
HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?
International WFA - $175, WFR - $995, Module - $775 (tuition, meals, lodging).
WHAT ABOUT DAY STUDENTS?
SOLO Prices for day students on the SOLO campus will be listed in the course schedule.
IS THERE AN EXAM?
Yes, there is ongoing evaluation of practical skills, and SOLO International program students take the standard WFA, WFR, and WEMT exams.
DO I GET CERTIFIED?
International WFA, WFR, and WEMT Module students receive standard SOLO certifications.

By using the standard WFR & WEMT recertification options. See more.
DO SOLO INTERNATIONAL COURSES COUNT AS CONTINUING EDUCATION?
It depends on your certification.
SOLO's search and rescue training includes a broad range of course offerings that can be customized to meet the needs of
specific groups. Topics range from classic SAR training, to orienteering (map and compass),
